Thanks to the donations and legacies received, and despite the multiple turmoil we all have to face, in 2023 the Charcot Foundation can maintain its support for innovative research that brings hope to the many patients.

To overcome MS, it is necessary to better understand the mechanisms of the disease. In university laboratories and research centres, budgets for multiple sclerosis research are limited. Each year, research teams therefore turn to the Belgian Charcot Foundation. A few figures illustrate what a donation means.

This year, the Belgian Charcot Foundation is allocating €750,000 to innovative projects that are potentially leading to improvements in MS treatments. The winners presented their research projects.

Prof. Peter Feys (UHasselt) started his research project in 2020, with the support of the Charcot Fund, with the title: "Implicit and explicit learning strategies to improve the performance of a dual cognitive and motor mobility task in MS patients"
