Endoplasmic Reticulum stress in autoimmune central nervous system inflammation and demyelination

Despite substantial progress was made during the last years in understanding the molecular mechanisms driving autoimmune inflammation in multiple sclerosis (MS), little is still known about the involvement of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in central nervous system (de)myelination and MS pathogenesis. The aim of our project is to understand the contribution of ER stress in the development and progression of CNS inflammation and demyelination. These findings may open up new avenues for the development of innovative therapeutics against MS and autoimmune diseases in general.
