Endothelin-1 in the Pathophysiology of progressive multiple sclerosis

Cerebral blood flow is lower in MS patients, which may play a part in progressive axonal degeneration. This is mediated by endothelin 1, which is produced by reactive astrocytes in MS plaques. The purpose of the research is to design drugs which inhibit the formation of endothelin 1 in astrocytes.
