A number of important questions still remain concerning the cause and best treatment for MS. Inflammation plays a central role in its emergence, as well as non-inflammatory “degenerative” factors. Our research investigates how stress hormone noradrenaline can influence both factors. We shall be doing this by modulating the biosynthesis of noradrenaline by the brain in various ways and observing the manner in which the disease can be influenced in an animal model. Project financed by the Ligue Nationale Belge de la Sclérose en Plaques- Nationale Belgische MS Liga.
