75% of multiple-sclerosis (MS) patients experience bladder problems, which considerably impacts their quality of life. One of these problems is underactive bladder (UAB), which has been little researched to date, despite the fact that it occurs in a significant proportion of MS patients. This project will investigate changes to smooth muscle tissue and in neuromuscular bladder control using an MS animal model. Its purpose is to throw light on the mechanisms of the development of the disease in cases of patients with underactive bladders and thus to identify starting-points for therapy.
This project is granted by the Belgian MS Liga.
