Protection against murine experimental autoimmune encephalitis by infection with lactate dehydrogenase-elevating virus

Grant

U.C.L.. Institut Chrisitian de Duve

Lactate dehydrogenase-elevating virus infection was found to prevent the development of murine experimental autoimmune encephalitis, an experimental model for multiple sclerosis. The purpose of this project will be to analyse the mechanisms by which the virus protects its host against this disease, focusing on T helper lymphocyte differenciation, expression of inhibitory molecules on these cells, induction of other suppressive cells and impairment of antigen presentation.
This project is granted by the Belgian MS Liga.
